ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – September 27, 2021): President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, leading a delegation, visited Turbat , Balochistan, to explore business and investment opportunities for its members in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) that has been planned for the region.

During its visit, the ICCI delegation met Naseer Khan Kashani, President of the Gwadar Port Authority, Major General Ahmad Bilal, Inspector General of the Frontier Corps (North) and other relevant authorities to discuss business and investment opportunities for the private sector in Turbat and Gwadar. .
The delegation was informed that the Kech district administration and the private sector were in the process of launching a SEZ, located at the crossroads of the CPEC and the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
The Pakistani government recently announced the opening of new Pakistan-Iran border crossing sites to increase bilateral border trade, which would complement efforts to generate socio-economic activities in southern Balochistan by establishing processing, packaging and manufacturing units.
Said special economic zone consisted of the energy park, the minerals and materials park, the metals park, the food park and the technology park.
The SEZ was likely to be operational over the next six months, which would open up new avenues for prosperity and development in the region.
Speaking on this occasion, Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, President, ICCI thanked the President of the Gwadar Port Authority and Major General Ahmad Bilal, IGFC (North) for providing a comprehensive briefing to the ICCI delegation on the investment opportunities in SEZs in Balochistan.
He said that in terms of area, Balochistan was the largest province in Pakistan with a lot of natural resources, so more focus should be placed on promoting business and investment in order to harness its natural resources for better development. economic development of the country and for raising the standard of living of its poor.
He said that currently most of the products, including dairy products, are coming from Iran to Turbat and other parts of Balochistan. Therefore, the Pakistani business community had a huge opportunity to provide local products to the people of these regions at competitive prices.
He stressed that the government should provide more incentives and security to the business community for joint ventures and investments in Balochistan’s SEZs to help the province achieve more progress and prosperity and play a role much more effective in the development of the national economy.
He assured that the ICCI would play a role in highlighting the investment opportunities available in the SEZs of Balochistan in order to attract maximum investment there.
