Iran develops missiles to reach Western Europe as Tehran issues war warning | World | New

Iranian international affairs expert Mostafa Khoshcheshm has warned the world that Iran’s influence is not limited to the nuclear realm as it does not rule out the possibility of war with the Western world. Khoshcheshm said the Middle Eastern country also has military, regional and missile leverage. Iran has always stressed that its nuclear program was quiet, but suspicions arose that it was being used as a cover to develop a nuclear bomb, which led the United States, the EU and the United Nations to impose severe penalties eleven years ago.

Five years later, Iran reached a compromise with six powers: Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, China and Germany. The deal would see Iran curtail its nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief.

Khoshcheshm has now said Iran must increase the range of the missiles to 3,000 and 4,000 km to be used as leverage.

He told Iranian Ofogh television that the United States was looking for resources to gain advantages, months after an American general in the Middle East said Iran was capable of building a nuclear weapon.

Iranian talks met with their European, Russian and Chinese counterparts in Vienna last week to discuss the relaxation of international sanctions.

He said: “Our leverage is not limited to the nuclear field. We also have leverage in other areas that we can apply, based on the roadmap and at the appropriate time.

“The western side is aware of this, since the Americans are seeking a certain tactical objective, and fear that because of the withdrawal of Biden (Afghanistan), the Democrats will lose their majority in the next legislative elections.

“So they’re looking for trumps, like making a deal with Iran, whether it’s temporary or not, just so they can say they’ve stopped the 60% enrichment.

“We have nuclear leverage and we can also use military, regional and anti-missile leverage. The American side understands this.

“We have tried this before. What does that mean ? You tell the Americans: Lift the sanctions, because if you don’t, the JCPOA will collapse and tensions will rise.

“Neither Israel nor we are interested in a war, but if the tension mounts, a war could break out by accident. Will NATO not come to the defense (of Israel)?

“Therefore, we must bring Western Europe within range of our missiles.

“This is why we would like to increase the range from 2,500 km, which we have set voluntarily, to 3,000 km and then to 4,000 km. The missiles will of course remain in Iran’s hands.

“It’s not me saying that. I spoke to General Hajizadeh (IRGC Aerospace Force Commander) and he told me that. We can use these leverage measures.

“Westerners may turn to demagoguery, but they know we are doing this to get concessions.

“When we were reducing our commitments to the JCPOA, European officials were asked, ‘Does Iran want to build a bomb? Why is Iran doing this? Why is he reducing his commitments in the JCPOA? ‘

“Everyone, without exception, replied that Iran was doing this to get concessions. “
