Iranian political analyst Emad Abshenas, editor-in-chief of Iran Diplomatic, said in a June 18, 2022 broadcast on Alghad TV (Egypt) that Israel wants to start a war in the Middle East, but it wants to by the United States or Arab countries. He said that the recent “provocations” regarding the Karish oil field in the Mediterranean Sea could have sparked a war in the region, that Iran has provided Hezbollah with the weapons to target the mining vessels, and that is just the balance of power between Iran, Russia and others in the region that prevented the war. In addition, Abshenas said that the Iranians were pressuring Syria to attack Israel and respond to its attacks on Syrian territory, and he said that Iran has been preparing for a confrontation with Israel for 30 years.said that all the weapons that Iran has sent to Syria are in preparation for a war with Israel.

“Israel wants to start the war in [The] Region, but she wants to do it through the others”
Emad Abshenas: “Israel wants to start war in this region, but it wants to do it through others. Sometimes it tries to do it through Arab countries, and other times through the United States. Now, we have to wait and see what Israel’s provocations in Lebanese territorial waters a week ago could have sparked a war in the region Hezbollah would certainly have attacked these [FSPO] ships. The Iranians gave Hezbollah weapons capable of targeting these ships. Without the cooperation of Iran and Russia and the balance of forces in the region, the war between Lebanon and Israel could have been triggered.
“The Iranians are putting a lot of pressure on the Syrian government, because it is time to respond to the Israeli attacks”
“Even if Russia officially opposes a [Turkish] operation in [northern Syria]I don’t expect the Russians to be upset if Turkey launches a limited operation in Syria, because in a way that would legitimize the Russian operation in Ukraine.
“As far as Israel is concerned, its attack on Damascus International Airport provides the Iranians with an excuse to pressure Syria. One of the problems Iranians in Syria have faced so far is the government’s refusal to respond to Israeli attacks, or to open a battle front in southern Syria.
“Today the Iranians are putting a lot of pressure on the Syrian government, because it is time to respond to the Israeli attacks. Sooner or later the Syrian government will accept this, and then maybe…
“All Iranian preparations for the past 20 or 30 years are for a confrontation with Israel”
“All the weapons that are being sent to Syria today…All Iranian preparations are for a confrontation with Israel, and they are waiting for the right moment. Whether Israel initiates such a confrontation or the Iranians…All Iranian preparations over the past 20 or 30 years are destined for a confrontation with Israel. All the weapons that have been sent that have not yet been used are destined for a confrontation with Israel. [Iran] needs a reason to convince the Syrian government [to respond]and today Israel provides that excuse.”
