Iranian military to stage massive war game in southern waters

In comments at a press conference on Saturday, Iranian Army Deputy Chief for Coordination Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said preparations for the joint exercise, codenamed Zolfaqar-1400, had already completed and that the main stage of the exercise will begin on Sunday, November 7.

The war game involves forces from the army, navy, air force and air defense, the general added, noting that the exercise area covers an area of ​​more than ‘one million square kilometers south-east of Iran, stretching from the eastern parts of the strait. from Hormuz to the northern Indian Ocean, up to 10 degrees latitude and parts of the Red Sea.

He also noted that a wide range of local equipment and ammunition, including advanced reconnaissance and combat drones with various ranges, will be used in the war game.

The upcoming exercise aims to increase the combat and defense capabilities of army units while protecting the country’s territorial integrity, the commander said.

He also noted that Iranian troops would demonstrate the power of the Islamic Republic in remote waters during the war game, warning enemies that any act of aggression against Iran would result in an overwhelming response from the military.

The Iranian armed forces organize routine military exercises throughout the year.

Iranian officials have repeatedly stressed that the country will not hesitate to strengthen its military capabilities, including its missile power, which are entirely for defense, and that Iran’s defense capabilities will never fail. subject of negotiations.
