Iran’s Interior Minister arrives today

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will raise issue of use of Iranian soil by terrorists active in Balochistan and involved in attacking security facilities and killing personnel when Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Wahidi is here today (Monday).

According to well-placed sources, the Iranian minister during his first visit would have talks with senior officials and explain his country’s position on the matter.

Ahmad Wahidi arrives on Monday for a one-day visit at the invitation of his host country counterpart. Terrorists who also have ties to India’s RAW intelligence agency have recently sparked a wave of terrorist activity in Balochistan.

The sources said that Pakistan has addressed the issue of providing safe havens in Iran and supplying weapons to terrorists hired in Balochistan to disrupt public order in the province. Pakistan has lodged a strong protest after a recent attack in Balochistan by such elements where a dozen security agency personnel embraced martyrdom. The valiant forces of Pakistan eliminated the attackers in its response.

The official sources said the Iranian official would discuss measures to crack down on Baloch terrorists who use Iranian soil to mount attacks on Pakistan.

It is relevant to mention here that the Saudi Interior Minister also visited Pakistan last week and had useful discussions on security topics. The two visits are in no way related, the sources explained.
