Joe Biden: Top Republican Blasts POTUS Over Russian-Ukrainian Tensions – ‘China Is Watching!’ | World | News

Joe Biden ignores questions after statement on Russia

Joe Biden, 79, has come under fire from a former GOP governor after the 46th president announced the United States would impose sanctions on Russia. The POTUS decision to introduce sanctions came just a day after Russian President Vladimir Putin, 69, said Moscow had recognized two regions in eastern Ukraine as breakaway states.

Mr Biden, who called Putin’s actions a “flagrant violation of international law”, unveiled his plans on Tuesday.

This included sanctions against major Russian financial institutions Vnesheconombank and Promsvyazbank.

Mr. Biden also expanded sovereign debt bans, which look set to limit access to U.S. markets and investors, introduced comprehensive blocking sanctions against five Russian elites, and said any institution in the Russian financial services sector would be the target of new sanctions.

Nikki Haley, 50, expressed concern over Mr Biden’s response on social media.

The ex-ambassador to the UN said: “President Biden has promised a ‘swift and tough’ response.

“He didn’t deliver.”

Ms Haley, who has been tipped as a potential Republican candidate in 2024, added: “Ukraine is a test of Western resolve.

“It’s not just about Putin.

“Chinese communists and Iranian jihadists are also watching.

“This is a major leadership moment for Biden.

“So far he is failing.”

Despite Ms Haley’s comments, many experts suggest that recent events in eastern Ukraine have posed a dilemma for relations between Beijing and Moscow.

According to Dr Yu Jie of Chatham House, the crisis had caused a “tricky point”.

Dr Yu added: “China very much hopes that Russia will offer full diplomatic support to Beijing’s various global initiatives under a plethora of UN-led platforms, but Moscow’s current decision has rendered China’s wishes more problematic”.

However, Mr. Biden’s predecessor, Donald Trump, 75, only continued with the GOP pile.

The 45th president said in a statement: “If handled properly, there was absolutely no reason for the situation unfolding in Ukraine right now to have happened.

“I know Vladimir Putin very well, and he would never have done under the Trump administration what he is doing now, no way!

“Russia has become very, very rich under the Biden administration, with oil prices doubling and soon to triple and quadruple.

“Low sanctions are insignificant compared to taking control of a country and a huge strategically located territory.

“Now that it’s started, oil prices are going up more and more, and Putin is not only getting what he always wanted, but because of the oil and gas surge, he’s getting richer and richer.

“The United States was energy independent under the Trump administration, an independence we had never achieved before, and oil prices would have remained low.

“Now, what a mess our country is in! »

Mr Trump, who could still launch a bid for the White House in 2024, also told a right-wing radio show he thought Mr Putin was a “genius”.

The ex-POTUS said: “I walked in yesterday and there was a TV screen, and I said, ‘That’s genius.’

“Putin declares a large part of Ukraine – of Ukraine. Putin declares it independent.

“Oh, that’s wonderful.

“So Putin is now saying, ‘It’s independent’, a big part of Ukraine.

“I said, ‘How smart is that? And he’s going to come in and be a peacekeeper.

“It’s the strongest force for peace… We could use it on our southern border.”

He added, “You have to say that’s pretty savvy. And you know what Biden’s response was? There was no response.”
